This is a video about a duckling rescue on River Oaks Drive in Cold Spring Minnesota in May of 2004. Turns out Brian Junkermeier, a local realtor with a love for animals, saw a mother duck in distress. He jumped into action to save her ducklings. The rest is history. A cameo by Kari Cruze playing the role of a concerned human mama for the mama duckling.

    I'm doing this with a laserdisc player connected and it is telling me it's recording to the disc right now but I have no Idea what that even means because I know it's going to have to burn to the disc. I honestly don't even know if it's capturing or not. It's behaving oddly but the timer does seem to match with my laserdisc players time because I hit record right when the disc was read. I'm trying to figure out if this is a better way to capture my laserdiscs. I plan on ripping with MakeMKV. My other capture device is done through computer called Hauppauge PVR but that's hit a miss. Is this thing actually working with my laserdisc player or does this dvd-r only capture the vhs player connected to it? It's telling me it's recording but I don't know if it really is. I'm quite anxious to find out. I also don't know if I hit the stop button or the red/orange record button to stop it.

    Hello: I was able to successfully connect my unit to the television and visually see the VHS material on the TV screen when played. However I was unable to successfully record or transfer the VHS over to the blank DVD I inserted into the DVD tray. The DVD went through the formatting process and completed. That's where my attempt ran into a wall and I was not able to complete the recording of the VHS tape to the DVD. The blank DVD is an "DVD RW" disc. Can you tell me where I went wrong? Thank you.

    • @gregcruze
      @gregcruze Год назад

      Hey Terry, I'm sorry to hear you went through the entire process and had nothing recorded on the DVD. That must be very frustrating. I must confess I no longer have the DVR unit so I'm not able to give you any feedback. You are using the right DVD disc and that should work. The only thing I could suggest is to restart everything and re-do the recording process. If you have a different blank DVD, I would try that too. It's possible your first DVD was bad. I does happen, but not very often. Good Luck and I hope you can get your videos recorded. God Bless & Go Flyers!

  • @charleshili9198

    I have set up a system using my Toshiba DVR620KU. I have been studying your method which you showed on RUclips. And compared it to the instructions given in the manual that came with the Toshiba Recorder. It differed a bit from yours and perhaps you can help me resolve the problem. For one thing I hooked it up to a small monitor using only a HDMI cable and it plays the VHS tape with no trouble and needless to say the picture quality is much better. However when it came to recording VHS to DVD discs. It makes no mention about pushing the dubbing button as you did. Or for that matter tracking. I just want to do a simple transfer or burning of VHS tapes to DVD's. I haven't done any of this yet so I just want to be sure I am using the right sequence which the manual is very vague in explaining. I don't even want to use the remote just manual settings. 1. Do I push VCR button and put in VHS tape? After Put in DVD Disc? Prior to recording do I Push Rec on VCR or REC on DVD side? I will be watching on the monitor the entire length of the movie from the VHS tape. At this point there is no mention of Dubbing or tracking in the manual at least not that I notice. 2. After the end of the film is over I would like to just play it on my TV to view results on the big screen. Am I on track so far if not can you set me straight. I would appreciate it. My email is charles.hili@yahoo.com. Thank you very much Chuck Hili

    • @gregcruze
      @gregcruze 2 года назад

      Hey Charles, the portion of the video that addresses your question, begins at the 8:00 minute mark. Hint: you will need to hit the 'dubbing' button on your recorders remote control. I have not had the machine since creating this video back in 2017. I finished recording all my VHS tapes and returned the machine to my brother, so I can't remember exactly what I did. I have to rely on the video to remind. Once you have recorded your VHS tape to the DVD, you should be able to put it into any DVD player and it will work. I'm on Mac, so I ripped all of my videos to my Mac and stream them on my Apple box for ease of use. Good luck and God Bless!

  • @charleshili9198

    I was watching your video with regard to attaching a Toshiba DVR620KU to a monitor. I tried following your instructions in trying to connect to my desktop computer. It didn't work so can you please tell me how to connect the above Toshiba recorder to my computer. I am running Windows 10 64gig.

    • @gregcruze
      @gregcruze 2 года назад

      Hey Charles, thanks for the question. You will need to burn the video onto a DVD, then 'rip' it to your machine. I'm on a MAC, but I'm sure there are many software options on the PC that will allow you to rip the DVD to your machine. It's not the cleanest way to go, but at least it gets you there. Also, with the DVD, you will have a backup to your precious videos! I hope nothing ever happens to my machine, but at least I will have a DVD backup. Good luck!

    When you randomly find one of these units and are, again, randomly asked to use it, videos like these are a lifesaver. Just for anyone else with a 620KU, the unit itself has a Dubbing button behind the glass panel on the front. It swings down to reveal button controls.

Skip the instructions and watch this video. It worked for me perfectly. Using these instructions, I just completed dubbing over 35 full VHS-c tapes to DVD... WARNING!!! while simple, dubbing vhs to dvd is EXTREMELY time consuming. can you play the finalized dvd in any dvd player?

    • @gregcruze
      @gregcruze 2 года назад

      Hey Ann, the finalized dvd is not the deciding factor in whether it plays in a particular DVD player or not. It has more to do with the way you burn it on to a DVD. A fact I found out the hard way when playing a wedding video for my daughter and her new husband a few years ago. I'm on a MAC, and the way I burned it, the DVD would not play on a Sony device. Ugh! Very embarrassing. If you need to play it on specific device, burn it and then test it out. Good luck!

  • @leighann-sl8fc
    @leighann-sl8fc 2 года назад

    The instructions on how to finalize are on page 32. I have no idea why there is no mention of it in the dubbing instructions. If they're assuming people are going to read the whole instruction book straight through that's just a bad assumption and even if you did, you might not remember it anyway. I wrote on my dubbing pages to turn to 32 for finalizing.
